They have little or no real training or anything else invested so they can offer cheap to get you in the door but, when you end up so messed up that the only thing that can fix are very costly tattoo removal lasers from only a few providers. It takes a very costly laser to remove many colors. The laser costs over $100,000 so it is going to cost and it is going to take several treatments.
When an artist has very little vested and slaps out whatever in 20 minutes you can end up a big disappointment and hopefully it can be repairable. I fix poor permanent makeup at lease twice a week. But, sometimes when someone went repeatedly back for it to become worst and keep adding the wrong color. It can take repeated visits to me using corrector colors and sometimes remove the work or camouflage it.
I have repaired and seen some of the worst messes and felt terrible for the poor people. But, the biggest messes you could image. I had to go back on it several times to make it right.
It is so so important to see only a National Board Certified Master that can prove her training and certifications. Beware of certificates that can be bought for $100. membership to a nothing society and nothing much other than the piece of paper that looks good. It brings zero talent to the trade or skill. I know of one that is an alcoholic and her work is God awful. I guess I should be grateful she brings me a lot of repair work.
I paid out over $30,000 learning all aspects of this profession and can prove it. One of the best schools for permanent cosmetics is in Arlington Texas. Where I traveled on several occasions. That was not my first permanent cosmetic makeup college. That was 300 hours in 1993. I have a lifetime of skill and training. I am a natural artist so my work can’t be surpassed.
